Restaurant Organizational Chart and Job Description

Restaurant organizational chart may change depending on the size of our restaurant. In this article, you will learn how a typical Restaurant is organized. And who is working in there?

Restaurant Manager: If we are talking about a typical restaurant, there is usually a restaurant manager at the top of the restaurant organizational chart. However, it would be more appropriate to put food and beverages at the top of the organization chart in companies/group restaurants.

In general, the restaurant manager assumes duties such as supervision of whether the employees are doing their jobs properly, marketing studies, training of employees.

You know, restaurant manager is usually the business owner. In such a case, it would be more appropriate to write it as restaurant manager / owner at the top of the organization chart for restaurant.

Assistant Restaurant Manager: They report to restaurant manager. The number of them in a restaurant usually range from 1 to 3.

Head waiter: They report to the restaurant manager or the assistant restaurant manager depending on the size of the business.

Waiter/ress: Generally their supervisors are head waiters. At small restaurants, The waiter /waitress also works as the head waiter.

They take on critical tasks in the restaurants such as getting customers’ requests and serving meals.

Bus boy/girl: They are at the bottom of the organization chart and work depending on the waiter. They have simple duties like cleaning the tables, mopping the floors etc.

Executive Chief: They are responsible for the management of the kitchen. They work with the restaurant manager or asistant restaurant manager.

In some cases, executive chefs can manage multiple restaurants kitchens.

Executive Chief Assistant: They work with the executive chief.

Fish chef, grilled chief, soup chief, pastry chef, sauce chief are working with executive chief assistant.

Dishwashers, Chef Assistants: Their supervisor are cooks.

Accountant: Their supervisor is restaurant manager or owner.
